Peekskill Head Start Program Seeks Books, Games, Toys for 3 to 5-Year-Olds

PEEKSKILL, NY — The Head Start program is seeking donations of new books, games and toys for kids aged 3 to 5.

"We'd like to help their parents give them a happy Christmas," said social worker Sara Laitman.

The Peekskill Head Start program educates 98 income-eligible 3- and 4-year-olds. This includes an extended-day universal pre-K class of 4-year-old students.

There are two distinct programs in Peekskill affiliated with WestCop's Early Childhood programs and part of the Head Start grant. The other is Aunt Bessie's Open Door Day Care, which has an Early Head Start grant for its Infant and Toddler program and a small extended-day Head Start program. There are about 45 children at ABOD, 16 of whom are infants and toddlers.
