Peekskill Nutrition, Senior Clubs To Close Temporarily
City officials said asbestos will be removed from the roof of the Neighborhood Center.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Planned removal of asbestos at the Neighborhood Center means the Nutrition Program and Senior Club will have to close temporarily.
The asbestos removal on the roof of the center will take place between Monday, Nov. 22 and Wednesday, Nov. 24.
The nutrition department plans to reopen Monday, Nov. 29 in accordance with the timeline provided by the contractor.

Nutrition program staff will provide means in advance of the planned closure to ensure seniors have nutritious meals during the closure.
Officials said the decision to close was made in the best interest of safety for all senior program members and staff and comes after guidance from the Westchester County Office of the Aging and conversations with Peekskill's head of the Department of Public Works, the contractor conducting the work and the city manager.
