Peekskill Woman Faces DWI Charge

Police accuse her of involvement in at least one hit-and-run auto crash Feb. 1.

On Feb. 1, New York State Police arrested 32-year-old Crystal A. Gibbs, of Peekskill, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation.

Troopers were dispatched to investigate a property damage auto accident on Route 9. Police say they located Gibbs asleep at the wheel. As they spoke with her, she displayed clues that indicated she was intoxicated.

When the troopers noted extensive damage to the Hyundai Gibbs was operating which did not appear consistent with the crash they were investigating, they contacted local police departments and asked if they were investigating any hit-and-run auto crashes.

State police said Ossining Police Department responded that they had investigated a total of three hit-and-run crashes where a Hyundai was identified as the suspect vehicle.

Gibbs was issued traffic tickets ordering her to appear before Cortlandt town court Feb. 13.
