Peekskill's Annual Polar Plunge: Time To Sign Up, Support [VIDEO]

It's the sixth year the This Is Me Foundation will make a splash funding scholarships for those who've faced alopecia or general adversity.

PEEKSKILL, NY — It's time to register if you want to make a splash at the 6th Annual Polar Plunge. And even if you don't want to run into the Hudson River on the first day of 2018, it's time to start looking for someone who does, and sponsor their generous act of freezing for a good cause.

The Polar Plunge benefits the This is Me Foundation. All proceeds go towards college scholarships for local students who have faced an adversity, or helped a friend through adversity, as well as national scholarships to students who have alopecia. It is sponsored by The Quiet Man Public House.

The event will be held at the Peekskill Riverfront Green at 12 p.m. sharp on Jan.1. Interested in plunging? Participants must register in advance online. Registration is open until Dec. 30.

As always, it will be open to the public to watch and cheer on the brave plungers.

The This Is Me Foundation, founded by Peekskill residents Caitlin and Lauren Brady, was created to raise awareness about alopecia, an auto-immune disease that causes hair loss, and to give hope to any individual who faces adversity. All proceeds go directly to the This Is Me Scholarship Fund, inspired by Ryan Risco and Cait Chivonne Polhill.
