Peekskill's Fire Chief Pushed to Resign: News Report
The Peekskill Post says City Hall invoked its nepotism policy.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Peekskill's fire chief has announced that he is resigning effective March 5, due to pressure from City Hall about nepotism because his son has been hired as a paid firefighter, according to the Peekskill Post.
Editor Bryan Fumagalli reported that Vincent Malaspina agreed to resign after City Manager Richard Leins and the city's attorney, Melissa Ferraro, invoked Peekskill's nepotism clause even though Malaspina is not a city employee.
He is a volunteer, and fire chief is an internally-elected position. He had 18 months to go in his term. Peekskill's fire department is a hybrid, with a volunteer roster of about 100 and a core of paid firefighters.
