P/NW BOCES' FREE Career Training, ESOL and TASC to in-school and out-of-school youths in Westchester and Putnam counties

Through a Workforce Innovation Opportunity grant, P/NW BOCES is offering FREE training, TASC and ESOL programs to 14-24 year old youths .

Information sessions are taking place at the Peekskill Field Library located at 4 Nelson Avenue, Peekskill, NY, on Dec. 8 and Dec. 10 from 1-3 pm, and at Carmel’s Laura Spain Memorial Cornerstone Park Building on Dec. 14 and Dec. 21 from 12-3 pm.

P/NW BOCES Tech Center will provide WIOA youth program services to in-school and out-of-school youths in Putnam and Westchester counties. The program’s goal will be to provide and prepare participants without high school diplomas with the following: educational training (Literacy, TASC, CDOS); career training in CTE trade programs such as hospitality, health care, construction trades, and business computer technology; paid work/internship experience; stipends for participation; and job readiness skills and career exploration.

All participants will meet the WIOA requirements of being low-income, between 14-21 (in-school) or 16-24 (out-of-school), and meet one o more of the following criteria: basic skills deficient, an ELL, an offender, a homeless individual, pregnant or parenting, a youth with a disability, and/or an individual requiring assistance completing an education program or securing or holding employment.
