Police: Unresponsive Man in Car Was Drug-Impaired

EMS couldn't rouse him so cops entered the car

New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks charged Edward M. Vantassel, 23, with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a Misdemeanor.

Troopers were dispatched Aug. 6 to assist EMS with an unresponsive subject located inside a vehicle. They entered the car after several attempts to communicate with Vantassel were unsuccessful.

Police said their subsequent investigation revealed that Vantassel was under the influence of drugs. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated Vantassel and concluded that he was impaired by drugs, police said.

Vantassel was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Cortlandt Court on August 17, 2015.
