Reconstructing Oakwood Drive For Safety
The city is planning to improve this section of roadway with a grant secured from the Federal Highway Administration.

PEEKSKILL, NY – The City of Peekskill Department of Planning and Development held a public information meeting recently to present plans for the reconstruction of the road and sidewalk on Oakwood Drive.
The city is planning to improve this section of roadway with a grant secured from the Federal Highway Administration. Presentation of the plans to the public took place at an open meeting on March 20, at the Peekskill Neighborhood Center, 4 Nelson Avenue.

The plans and meeting video will be posted on the City’s web site. Written comments will still be accepted and are encouraged. To be included in the record, written comments must be received by March 29.
The intention of this reconstruction project is pedestrian safety and aesthetic improvements
to Oakwood Drive. The planned reconstruction involves replacement of about 640 linear
feet of sidewalk on one side of the street and reconstructing about 1,160 linear feet of Oakwood
Drive from North Division Street to the entrance of Hampton Oaks Apartments.

Subsurface utility replacements of water and sewer piping takes place concurrently with construction. Tectonic Engineering, design consultant for the project, is leading this design effort with the assistance of Behan Planning and Design and KC Engineering and Land Surveying.
Members of the consulting team, including city staff, presented materials and answered questions.
Funding for this project comes from a federal grant of $899,000 provided through the New York State Department of Transportation. For the latest information regarding this meeting, visit the city website.
