Red Ribbon Week at Hen Hud High School

Phys Ed students experience the effects of DWI using goggles

From October 27 through October 31, Red Ribbon Week, an annual observance that emphasizes drug and alcohol abuse awareness, was held at both Hendrick Hudson High School and Blue Mountain Middle Schools in the Hendrick Hudson School District. Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) clubs in both buildings were directly involved in a number of activities. On Thursday and Friday at the high school, the Westchester County Police worked with physical education classes to teach the effects of alcohol and drugs on driving and the Westchester Social Host law. High school Student Assistance counselor Angela Alvarado shared this photo of a student trying to walk straight while wearing goggles that simulate the visual effects of driving while impaired.
