Reggae! with Donovan Michael and U.R.I.

Friday July 31st, 8 p.m. Bean Runner Cafe

Under The Rasta Influence (U.R.I) has an explosive stage presence and natural ability to incinerate stages and leave fans with tired feet.

Frontman Donovan Michael’s lyrics embody a positive consciousness and the spirit of Rastafari, while the music showcases skilled songwriting. Combined with the distinctive style and high-energy performances, Donovan Michael creates a one-of-a-kind blend of roots reggae, soul, rock, and hip-hop that sounds like nothing else on the scene.

Winning the grand prize at the NY Band Quest in 2010, Donovan Michael made headline news in the Jamaican Gleaner after performing The Jamaican Jazz and Blues Festival, opening for Hall n’ Oats, Third World, Gladys Knight and more.

“Listening in the distance, one could be easily swayed to believe that Steel Pulse was onstage, as there was a great similarity in the vocals of URI’s lead singer American-born Donovan Ernest belted across the lawns.” -Noel Thompson, Gleaner Writer
