Rockland Leads Emergency Indian Point Drill

The regional event simulated two emergencies at the nuclear power plants on the Hudson River.

On Aug. 20, emergency responders worked through a simulated set of emergencies at the Indian Point nuclear power plants: terrorist attack and radioactive release.

The full-scale, 4-county drill was just an opener. Another drill is scheduled for October, and that one will be evaluated by FEMA.

On Aug. 20 the drill included working through the logistics of evacuating everyone in a 5-mile radius of the plants, according to News 12.
