Motorcyclist, 19, Dies in Route 6 Crash

Wake and funeral arrangements are set. A GoFundMe page has been set up by friends.

A 19-year-old Putnam resident who died Friday in a motorcycle crash loved building and repairing cars. Raphael Teixeira was born March 13, 1998. The Putnam Valley resident was an electrician.

Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Monday at Yorktown Funeral Home, 945 East Main St. in Yorktown. A Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak. Burial will follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.

Family and friends are contributing to help pay for Teixeira's funeral, and for a special kind of memorial. On a GoFundMe page, they describe their plan to make the payments on his dream car, a Dodge Charger Hellcat, so it can stay in the family.

Teixeira crashed into a tractor-trailer on Route 6 Friday afternoon, according to The Journal News. TJN reported that witnesses said he was traveling fast northbound and using the shoulder to pass cars. The truck was turning into Mahopac Railroad Tie, Carmel police told the paper.
