'Scary Moments' After Pickup Plunges Into The Hudson
Marine, Aviation and dive units responded to the accident scene this morning near the Peekskill Yacht Club.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A driver is lucky to be alive after his truck ended up submerged in the Hudson.
The pickup went into the river near the Peekskill Yacht Club, drawing police, fire and EMS agencies from across Westchester County, and beyond. Initially, rescuers believed that the driver was still in the vehicle when it became completely submerged. However, he had been able to get out to safety moments before it sunk completely.
Westchester County Police Departement Marine Unit, Aviation Unit and Special Operations personnel were among the agencies that rushed to the scene along with the Peekskill Police Department and Fire Departments, the Yorktown Heights Fire Department Dive Team, the Rockland County Sheriff's Marine Unit, New York State Environmental Conservation Police, New York State Police, Peekskill EMS and Cortlandt Regional Paramedics.

Yorktown Heights Fire Department Dive Team members went into the frigid waters and worked beneath the vehicle to prepare it to be hauled back on to land.
