Service, Vigil Thursday in Peekskill for the Orlando Victims

The mayor would like to light up the Hudson River shoreline from Peekskill to New York City.

Peekskill Mayor Frank Catalina has joined President Obama and ordered flags on all city properties lowered for the week.

In addition, he announced that his office is organizing an inter-denominational prayer service vigil on June16, at the Riverfront Green, in cooperation and conjunction with the Peekskill Area Pastors Association.

"I urge ALL citizens outraged by events and determined to address it through constructive prayer and vigil, to join us at 7 pm for a prayer and musical service," Catalina said in his announcement. "Please bring a flashlight or candle as I hope we can, after the service, line the waterfront with people standing side-by-side illuminating our shoreline from Peekskill Landing all the way down to the Yacht Club. Hopefully, other communities will join us in lighting up the Hudson shoreline from NYC to Peekskill! Those who commit these acts want to change us...let’s show them that they did change us...they brought us TOGETHER for peace, security and dignity of human choice. See you Thursday night!"
