Shed the Meds Event in Peekskill on Tuesday
Here's a chance to get rid of your unwanted medications that's safe and environmentally friendly.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A Shed the Meds prescription drop-off program will be held Tuesday at the Field Library.
"Prescription drug abuse has gone from being a growing threat to a full-blown epidemic," State Sen. Terrence Murphy said in his announcement. "The 'Shed the Meds' program takes potentially dangerous prescription drugs off the streets that could otherwise threaten our children and families."
WHAT: Shed the Meds Program. An opportunity for anyone with expired or unused prescription drugs to dispose of them safely.

The public is encouraged to drop off any and all old, expired, or unused medications of any kind. Medications can be in any container or condition—but don’t bring needles or liquids.
Disposing of old medication is a priority these days, as prescription drug abuse is soaring.
And taking the time to do it properly is important, to keep it from polluting our waterways.
Senator Terrence Murphy is hosting the event with partners the City of Peekskill, the Peekskill Police Department, and the local Rotary.
