Socially Inspired PHS Student Art on Display at Garrison Art Center

Entitled, "Wired Within Society," The Peekskill High School art class project will be on display at the Garrison Art Center from 3/4-3/11.

At Peekskill High School, Ms. Heather Brown’s Advanced Art 1 class has created socially driven artwork entitled “Wired Within Society.” The pieces were created to be displayed at the Garrison Art Center’s themed show, “Icon Pop.”

To gain inspiration for the project, PHS students viewed 1960’s pop art to determine what the messages were behind the pieces from that era, and then collaboratively created their own pieces about today’s social issues.

Student artists involved in the project include: Daisy Melgar, Sharnike Walker, Jayda Wilson, Luis Carrasquillo, Elizabeth Fernandez, Meliza Narvaez, Najelli Chavez, Sandy Guevara and Christopher LaRosa.
