Statement on Indian Point Federal Hearing
The writer heads the New York Affordable Reliable Electricity Alliance.

New York business and labor organizations strongly support the license renewal of Indian Point because they know the plant’s operator, Entergy, will do whatever it takes to ensure the plant is a safe, world-class facility. Indian Point is also very important to New York’s economy and environment.
Indian Point has undergone the most extensive license renewal review in U.S. history and continually been found to be an extremely safe facility. The plant merits license renewal and it should be promptly granted.
Indian Point means more than 10,000 jobs to New York and $1.6 billion in annual economic activity for the state. Without the plant, electricity prices and carbon emissions would spike, setting New York back. Together with business and labor organizations that employ tens of thousands of New Yorkers, we urge the NRC grant license renewal.
