Tappan Zee HS Student Apparent Suicide Near School
The school went into lockdown after a student shot himself at 1 p.m., according to news reports.
A student at Tappan Zee High School shot himself to death at 1 p.m. Wednesday across the street from the school in Orangeburg, according to The Journal News.
The school was on lockdown while Orangetown police investigated at the scene.
“The incident involved a family in our community ... I want to express my grief on behalf of the district,” South Orangetown Superintendent Robert Pritchard told reporter Steve Lieberman.
