The Early Days of Baseball

Bob Mayer presents a thorough recap of the beginning of America's favorite pastime at the Peekskill Museum.

Bob Mayer, knowledgeable baseball historian, memorabilia collector and treasurer of the Peekskill Museum, provided a wealth of information for baseball fans Saturday at his presentation, Baseball’s Early Days.

With over 50 years of experience and over 20 years collecting memorabilia and research, Mayer is more than qualified to share his knowledge of baseball’s early days.  His lecture led local fans through the first usage of the word “baseball” and onto the formation of local minor league teams along the Hudson River.

Mayer’s impressive collection of baseball memorabilia is complemented by his sincere passion for the game, which he conveys through his smart and detailed lectures.  Mayer’s vintage memorabilia is currently on display at the Peekskill Museum.
