CAC member, Mr. Anthony Carbone and the General Manager CRP Sanitation Inc. and Sustainable Materials Management will discuss organic waste recycling (composting).
Anthony stated “we accept food scraps and tree debris from customers. We process these materials, mix them together into an appropriate mixture that allows for microbial, bacterial and fungal breakdown of the organics in that mix, and the end result is compost. Compost is an organic soil conditioner that has been stabilized to a humus-like product that is free of viable human and plant pathogens and plant seeds, which do not attract insects or vectors, that can be handled and stored without nuisance, and that is beneficial to the growth of plants.”
Once you view the video please email Judi Peterson at Judip@townofcortlandt.com to be entered into a raffle to receive a kitchen counter composting bin. All entries must be received by June 20th.
