HUDSON VALLEY, NY โ€” The only World War II destroyer escort still afloat will sail down the Hudson River Sunday from Albany to a shipyard on Staten Island for continued restoration work.

The USS Slater was one of 563 destroyer escorts protecting convoys and fighting off air attacks. Now a floating museum on the Hudson River, it offers hour-long guided tours, youth group overnight camping, and a historic location to hold naval reunions.

There are so many places to watch from on the river during the daylight part of the ship's trip.
