Woman Dies After Jump From Bear Mountain Bridge

BUCHANAN, NY — A Buchanan woman died Monday after jumping from the Bear Mountain Bridge, New York State police said.

Police received a call around 7 p.m. from a witness who said a person had jumped from the bridge into the Hudson River. Along with state police, the Verplanck Fire Department Marine Unit responded and retrieved a body from the water.

State police identified the woman as Kathleen Kirkpatrick, 57.
