Wynonna Brings Her Legendary Voice, Those Flaming Locks and Her Big Noise Band to the Paramount Stage!

The One and Only Wynonna Judd Plays Her Biggest Hits at the Paramount Hudson Valley in Peekskill on July 18th

Fans can recognize her big, deep bluesy voice and those flowing, flaming auburn locks anywhere. Her career is storied; her life, remarkable; her talent, awesome. Now touring with her band, The Big Noise, Wynonna is still rocking and wailing and making her kind of big, beautiful noise in the music world. Wynonna & The Big Noise hit the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater on Saturday, July 18th.

In the words of Paramount CEO Kurt G. Heitmann, “Wynonna Judd is a superstar! We’re over the moon to have the chance to host her here at the Paramount Hudson Valley. Being able to hear that incredible voice singing all the songs you love in a theater of our size instead of an arena - it’s the closest thing to a private concert with a legend that you could get. We can’t wait! Fans are in for the experience of a lifetime.

Wynonna’s career has always revolved around telling stories. In short, she’s not one to shy away from speaking her mind, and that’s what made her ventures in the world of literature and television so intriguing.

Wynonna has hit the road with The Big Noise backing band, playing her biggest hits and favorite covers for fans. Talking about the tour, Wynonna explains, “We all feel a renewed passion and we believe that this music is being celebrated in a whole new way. That gives me a great deal of hope and it is my prayer that others who come to our shows will experience that as well.”

Wynonna has also been recording her eighth studio album, coming soon via Curb Records, described by Judd as “vintage yet modern.” It’s just the latest in a string of hit albums that started with her quintuple platinum 1992 solo debut, Wynonna. That set spawned four number one hits and was the bestselling country album ever by a female artist at that time. In 1994, Wynonna received the coveted Top Female Vocalist of the Year trophy at the ACM Awards, and Rolling Stone called her “the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline.” Engaging the soulful, bluesy side of her voice only hinted at with The Judds, Wynonna went on to sell more than 10 million albums and reach new creative heights with six chart toppers of her own.

Wynonna and her husband/band leader Cactus Moser wrote and recorded the soulful, acoustic-driven track “Follow Me” for the 2014 feature film The Hornet’s Nest, which tells the true story of a group of U.S. troops on a dangerous mission in Afghanistan. To close out 2014, Wynonna & The Big Noise brought A Simpler Christmas to audiences for the second year in a row as she performed some of her holiday favorites and some of her greatest hits.

A five-time GRAMMY winner and New York Times bestselling author, Wynonna also added shoe designer to her resume as she unveiled her new women’s shoe line in 2014, Got Soul, which is a collection of bedazzled sneakers, wedges and flats that are available at boutiques across the country.

In 2013, she released a brand new single, “Something You Can’t Live Without” – produced by Cactus, an hour long riveting television documentary “Wynonna & Cactus: The Road Back,” and a national magazine cover feature in UsWeekly, plus competed on ABC’s juggernaut TV show “Dancing with the Stars.”

In early 2012 she expanded into fiction with her stirring novel, Restless Heart. Drawing on her nearly 30 years experience as a country music icon, Wynonna’s debut novel tells the story of a young aspiring country singer and her dizzying rise to stardom that leads her on a path of self-discovery grappling with love, loss, success, and surrender. Overcoming obstacles is a recurring theme in Wynonna’s work, and that triumphant outlook shows up on every page of Restless Heart.

Of course, Wynonna’s own journey as one half of legendary duo The Judds with her mother Naomi Judd provides one of the most fascinating stories in country music history. Rising to superstardom in the early ‘80s on the strength of chart toppers like “Mama’s He’s Crazy,” “Why Not Me” and “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days),” The Judds were unstoppable for the rest of the decade picking up multiple GRAMMY, CMA and ACM Awards and selling more than 20 million albums along the way. The duo’s initial run came to an end with a record-breaking farewell tour in 1991 after Naomi was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. While Wynonna went on to launch her wildly successful solo career, Naomi fully recovered from her illness and became a bestselling author, speaker and talk show host. Due to popular demand, The Judds embarked on two highly successful tours since Naomi’s initial retirement -- 2000’s Power to Change tour and their most recent outing in 2010, The Last Encore.

Wynonna and Naomi’s relationship behind the scenes has been complex as well, and a lot of the friction has played out in the public eye. Never ones to hold back in their quest for honesty, Wynonna and Naomi regularly shared their biggest struggles and revelations with the public. So, when Oprah launched the Oprah Winfrey Network, or OWN, in 2011, it was only natural she turned to one of music’s most fascinating and iconic duos for some compelling programming.

Premiering to rave reviews and the highest ratings the network had seen to date, The Judds docu-series granted fans unprecedented access into their unique and powerful mother/daughter relationship in addition to their relationship as performers and artistic collaborators. The good, difficult and loving moments were captured on film, and viewers came away with a complete portrait of the personal and artistic relationship between these two fascinating and dynamic women.

Wynonna is always evolving and you can bet her fans will be watching very closely as she writes the next chapter of her legendary career.
