Zen and the Art of Chilling Out.

Anxiety can really sneak up on you. I myself have never been too adept at noticing my own anxiety of it as it builds up and the wave crashes. It's something i'm working on. Prior to adulthood, I never had a panicky or anxiety ridden moment in my life. Within the the span of a few formative years, the wiring changed and it's been something that i've had to intermittently deal with. Ten years later, I'm only now learning how to deal it properly and the recognize signs of growing anxiety. The one thing i've really learned is that you can't just plow through it or bottle it, you have to confront it head on or it'll bite you in the ass.

With this big move and new job and new surrounds, anxiety's ugly head has been ever-present. I tried to plow through but last week a little panic attack knocked me on my ass and made me realize, I really need to find some release. Right near my work is apparently one of NYC's best spas, I walked in and set my cowboy-stoicisim aside...and got the works.

Midway through my Swedish Massage, I tried to to humble myself and really realize that I'm not John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, everyone need some release and you can't just PLOW through your anxieties assuming they'll all go away. You need to face them calmly and head on.

Here's to learning about yourself!
