PELHAM MANOR, NY — Holiday weekend storms wrought devastation across the region, but officials in Pelham have vowed that a piece of Hudson Valley history won't be lost.

In a statement posted to social media, Pelham Manor Mayor Jennifer Monachino Lapey said that the police box at Boston Post Road and Pelhamdale Road was crushed by a falling tree.

"It is simply heartbreaking to see the damage inflicted on this beloved structure," Lapey wrote. "Four Corners holds a special place in our hearts and is critical to the vibrancy of Pelham Manor. Please know that the Village is committed to restoration efforts."

The mayor said that Village Hall regained full power after operating with generator service over the weekend, because of the storm. Village Manager Lindsey Luft has been working with Con Edison tree and wire crews in the removal of the downed tree at the busy intersection.

Lapey noted that Town Historian Arthur L. Scinta has performed significant research on both Four Corners and the historic police booth.
