2017 NSWCA President Andrew N. Bader of Plainview Water District Gives Raymond J. Averna of Massapequa WD Honorary Award

Plainview, NY; March 23, 2017 - At a recent Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners’ Association (NSWCA) meeting sponsored by Hicksville Water District Commissioners Nicholas Brigandi, William Schuckmann and Karl Schweitzer, newly elected 2017 NSWCA President Andrew N. Bader of Plainview Water District presented outgoing NSWCA President Raymond J. Averna of Massapequa Water District with an honorary award in recognition of his 2016 term as NSWCA President.

During his tenure as NSWCA President, Mr. Averna was responsible for directing NSWCA’s efforts to refine the Association’s stances on conservation and sustainability. He was also instrumental in formulating NSWCA’s positioning for LICAP testimony. In addition, Mr. Averna supported Governor Cuomo’s assessment that the Long Island aquifer system should receive a wholly scientific and un-politicized study and presided over recognition of NSWCA’s 35th anniversary of service to Long Island water consumers.

As re-elected Massapequa Water District Commissioner for a new three-year term, Mr. Averna will continue to be an active member of NSWCA.

Organized and chartered in 1981, Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners’ Association (NSWCA) is comprised of water commissioners from 21 Nassau and Suffolk County water districts. The NSWCA is dedicated to promoting environmental excellence and best practices as well as maintaining the highest standards of water quality and supply. NSWCA sponsors regular educational meetings on topics that include the environment, security, economics, rules and regulations, among other related issues.
