The man was not authorized to be on the tracks, the MTA police say.

BETHPAGE, NY — A 21-year-old Farmingdale man died after he was struck by a LIRR train on Monday evening, MTA police said.

At about 7:34 p.m. on April 20, Cameron William Zappolo was at the Merritts Road crossing east of the Bethpage station when the Long Island Rail Road train 1976 hit him, MTA police said.

He was treated at the scene and then transported to Nassau University Medical Center by Farmingdale EMS, where he was pronounced deceased, MTAPD said.
