BETHPAGE, NY — One person is displaced, and a home is uninhabitable after a house fire in Bethpage on Sunday, fire marshals said.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said Bethpage Fire Department responded to a two-story home at approximately 4:32 p.m. on Hunt Place. The fire extended from the exterior, into the attic and second floor, fire marshals said.
Fire marshals said the occupants of the home self-evacuated, and the Red Cross was not needed.
The fire was brought under control within 40 minutes with approximately 75 firefighters on scene, NCFM said.
Bethpage FD was assisted by mutual aid Fire Departments from Plainview, Wantagh, South Framingdale, Framingdale, Levittown, and North Massapequa – all under command of Chief Castellano, fire marshals said.
The Local building department was notified to respond, and the fire is under investigation by the NCFM and NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad, fire marshals said.
