14-Year-Old E-Bike Rider Critically Injured, Airlifted After Bethpage Crash: Police

The boy suffered "severe body trauma," Nassau police say.

BETHPAGE, NY — A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was operating an e-bike in Bethpage on Wednesday afternoon and was struck by a car, police said.

At approximately 2:53 p.m., the teenager was opearting an e-bike westbound on Sherman Avenue crossing Seventh Street when he was struck by a 2014 Dodge driven by a 17-year-old girl traveling southbound on Seventh Street, Nassau County police said.

The boy suffered "severe body trauma" and was airlifted by a Nassau County Aviation Helicopter to a local hospital, police said.

The Dodge driver remained at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing, according to police.
