PLAINVIEW, NY — A Plainview man was arrested on Monday after his 14-year-old son was reported to have scratches and marks on his neck and stomach, police said.
According to Nassau County police, the principal of a Plainview middle school called police to report the autistic student's injuries.
Upon investigation, it was determined that the boy's father, Jin Chang, 52, inflicted the injuries by using a taser, police said.
Police said Chang used a taser "in an attempt to control him during an emotional outburst."
The taser was removed from the home where the father, son, and other family members live, police said.
Chang was arrested on Monday night and is charged with second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
He was arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
