H.B Mattlin Middle School Students Learn Self-Portrait Techniques

Plainview-Old Bethpage School District’s H.B. Mattlin Middle School students recently learned to sketch their own self-portraits after exploring artist Chuck Close and the grid technique. Students learned about Close’s photorealism style where he created bold, intimate and up-front portraits. The students created their own portraits and presented them to their classmates. The sketches are on display at the District’s central office.
