Bethpage Family Forced From Home After Electrical Fire, Officials Say

50 firefighters battled the blaze in the attic, fire marshals said.

BETHPAGE, NY — A Bethpage family of five was forced from their home after an electrical fire occurred in their attic on Saturday afternoon, fire marshals said.

A 1-story home on Reading Lane had an electrical fire in its attic at approximately 2:15 p.m., Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

Bethpage Fire Department responded and had about 50 firefighters on scene, battling the fire, which was under control within an hour, fire marshals said.

According to fire marshals, 3 adults and 3 children were displaced by the fire, but no injuries were reported.

NCFM and NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire, and Red Cross has been requested for the family, fire marshals said.

Farmingdale, North Massapequa, and South Farmingdale all responded as mutual aid assistance, fire marshals said.
