Candlelight Vigil Planned Tonight at Sikh Temple
Community is invited to stand with gurdwara members in sign of solidarity.
Members of are holding a candlelight vigil Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in memory of the victims of Sunday's attack at the gurdwara in Wisconsin.
Rabbi , the spiritual leader of in Old Bethpage, said the entire community is invited to stand with the Sikh community in a sign of unity.
The vigil follows a prayer service at the on Old Country Road from 8-8:30 p.m. The community is also invited to attend the prayer service.

"I hope that some of you will be able to attend to reinforce to our neighbors that we stand with them and mourn with them," said Rabbi Churgel.
Temple Beth Elohim provided a temporary home for the Sikh community to worship when they were temporarily last year.

Meanwhile, Rabbi Rafi Rank of the in Syosset issued this statement in connection with support for the local Sikh community:
We were shocked to learn of this violent act directed against innocent people who were engaged only in their right to worship freely in the community where they reside," Rabbi Rank said. "We are ready and prepared to assist in any effort designed to help those in mourning or in need of healing."
