Car Smashes Through Plainview Store; 1 Seriously Hurt

PLAINVIEW, NY — A car smashed into the back of a Plainview store Thursday afternoon and one person was seriously hurt. Firefighters were called around 1:30 p.m. Thursday for multiple reports that a car had crashed into a building on Woodbury Road, officials said.

Firefighters arrived to find a Honda had barreled into the rear of an Amazing Savings store. The driver, who was not hurt, lost control of the car in the shopping center parking lot, then crashed through a loading dock door before coming to a stop inside the store, officials said.

One person in the store was seriously hurt and firefighters had to remove a passenger in the car.

The store sustained heavy damage and building inspectors were called to check out structure.
