Citizens' Camp Loyaltown Earns Prestigious Accreditation

Camp Loyaltown, serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Long Island awarded ACA Accreditation.

Camp Loyaltown was recently accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), solidifying its status as a leader in providing camp programming services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Camp Loyaltown underwent a thorough review of its operation by the ACA and was found to be operating with the highest standards in the industry. As only nationwide organization that accredits all types of organized camps, the ACA is dedicated to enriching people’s lives through the camp experience.

The standards establish strong guidelines for needed policies, procedures, and practices. In earning the accreditation, Camp Loyaltown has demonstrated its dedication to continuously improving the camp experience for all campers and families served.

“This accreditation publicly affirms the high quality camp experience children and adults throughout the special needs community have enjoyed for decades,” noted Savita Sharma, Camp Director. “We are now embarking on a partnership that will facilitate the sharing of best practices and we are better positioned to more fully enrich the camper experience.”

The accreditation program sets the standard for the industry with its main purpose focused on educating camp owners and directors in the administration of key aspects of camp operation, particularly those related to program quality and the health and safety of both campers and staff.
