UPDATED: Driver Killed After Car Is Struck by Tractor-Trailer on LIE
The crash occurred Monday morning near Exit 45.

UPDATED at 5:50 p.m. Monday:
A 37-year-old man was killed Monday morning after police said his car was struck by a tractor-trailer on the Long Island Expressway in Plainview.
According to authorities, Oscar Reyes-Contereras, of Levittown, was driving eastbound on the LIE, near exit 45, when he lost control of his 2007 Ford Mustang at approximately 7:50 a.m.

The vehicle struck a guardrail, re-entered the roadway and was then struck by a tractor-trailer, police say.
The Plainview Fire Department arrived to the scene to find Reyes-Contereras pinned inside the vehicle. Crew members were able to extricate the man, who was then transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Reyes-Contereras was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 8:42 p.m.

The tractor-trailer, which was driven by a 45-year-old man, passed a brake and safety inspection at scene and no criminality is suspected at this time.
