The Town of Oyster Bay Department of Community and Youth Services, Cultural and Performing Arts Division, co-sponsoring with the library, presents this program as part of CAPA's Distinguished Artists Concert Series 2011/2012.
Jazz lovers, mark your calendars. The Bob Cantwell New Orleans Jazz Band brings first rate jazz to town. Cantwell formed this band in 1978 and they have had an exciting career, including an appearance in the movie, "Arthur II" starring Dudley Moore. In 2010, Billy Crystal personally chose the band to accompany him, Robin Williams and Whoopie Goldberg at a gala at Lincoln Center.
The band has always featured one or more performing greats from the swing era. The current band has three: clarinetist Sol Yaged, who played with Benny Goodman, Harry James, and Louis Armstrong drummer, Steve Little, from the Duke Ellington Band, and pianist, Herb Gardner, from the Eddie Condon Band. Don't miss this opportunity to hear jazz at its best.
