Future Educator From Plainview Earns $4.5K in Scholarships
She is a student at East Carolina University.

A Plainview resident attending East Carolina University was the recipient of a total of $4,500 in scholarships from the College of Education this year.
Michelle Nendza, who hopes to be a classroom teacher one day, received the following awards:
- Dr. Betty M. Long Memorial Scholarship, valued at $2,000
- The Eloise Faison Teacher Scholarship, valued at $2,500
Nendza was honored on Aug. 28 at the ECU College of Education Scholarship Recipient and Donor Recognition Ceremony in Greenville. About 94 scholarships and awards totaling $476,000 were presented. The scholarships, which ranged from $250 to $20,000 were funded through private donations that honor and memorialize educators and the profession.

About the Dr. Betty M. Long Memorial Scholarship— This scholarship will be awarded to a junior, senior or graduate student enrolled full time. Academic standards of eligibility must be met. Award is subject to availability.
About the Eloise Faison Teacher Scholarship— This scholarship will be awarded to a rising junior or senior with a 2.5 GPA or higher. Recipient must have a desire to be a classroom teacher. Award is subject to availability.
