H.B. Mattlin Middle School Math Olympiads Rock the House
Students from Plainview-Old Bethpage School Win Big at Nassau County Mathematics Tournament
Two Math Olympiad teams from the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District’s H.B. Mattlin Middle School recently competed in the 10th annual Nassau County Mathematics Tournament at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Old Westbury. More than 275 students from throughout Long Island took part in the tournament, participating in a series of math-focused activities including individual- and team-based competitions.
H.B. Mattlin Middle School student Andre Oganesian was declared the winner of the individual competition. In addition, Andre and his teammates, Cooper Davis, Rachel Gordon and Michael Khalfen, earned second place out of 55 other teams competing in the event for the team competition.
Plainview students Ella Soccoli, Daniel Shemetov, Jeremy Grossman, Ryan Farrell and Brendan Rodriguez were also recognized for their success at the event. All students were chosen to participate in the competition because of their high Math Olympiad contest scores throughout the year.
