Loaded Gun Recovered From Westbury Man's Fanny Pack: Police

WESTBURY, NY — A Westbury was taken into custody for carrying a handgun.

James Jean-Louis, 19, was seen with two other men, walking along Post Avenue Wednesday evening looking into the storefronts of closed businesses, police said.

Jean-Louis was observed wearing a fanny pack across his chest.

As police approached, he turned his body and the pack swung down, police said.

The fanny pack at a loaded silver and black semi-automatic handgun. No injuries were reported, police said.

Jean-Louis was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
