Local Business Students Host Island-Wide Entrepreneurial Competition
John F. Kennedy High School Students Execute and Place in POB Challenge

Plainview-Old Bethpage School District’s John F. Kennedy High School student members of the Business Honor Society planned and hosted the school’s Fifth Annual POB Challenge event. Business Honor Society board members, Lexi Schaumburg, Ben Green, Michael Crawbuck, Andy Scalia, Sydney Abelow, Sofi Solomon, Jake Friedman and Zack Berkowitz, as well as DECA students, Dylan Karul and Sam Vulin were crucial to the planning and execution of this event, which asks students to complete a case study.
Teams of three from high schools across Long Island including Half Hollow Hills West, Elmont, Port Washington, Patchogue-Medford, Syosset, Great Neck South and The Wheatley School worked together to think critically and develop their own unique restaurant. In the final round, students gave their elevator pitch to judges. Plainview-Old Bethpage students Molly Davis, Kat Gomez and Kaylee Riemann placed second.
The event offers business students real-world experience and the opportunity to polish their communication skills and network with students with similar interests.
