Varughese and her family auditioned for the show while she was visiting her cousins in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania back in January.
After seeing several advertisements for auditions on the local news, the family decided to make and submit a video.

"We went into it not thinking we'd get far," Varughese said.
However, the family did make it and were invited to participate in the show. In May, they went down to Atlanta, Georgia where the show is taped.
"It was pretty surreal," Varughese said. "We've been watching the show since we were little so it was pretty surreal to be on the other side."
She also said that she enjoyed meeting host Steve Harvey, who was a "funny and personable guy."
"It was a positive experience for us regardless of the outcome," she said. "It was a once in a lifetime opportunity."
The day of the show, Varughese said she will be watching it with her two children.
