Gunman Who Killed Man Arrested: Nassau Police

A 22-year-old man died after he was shot in the abdomen, Nassau detectives said. Police have arrested the alleged gunman.

OLD BETHPAGE, NY—UPDATE, July 9, 10:45 a.m.: Brandon P. Torres, 22, of Staten Island, was arrested in relation to the murder of Stefon Pierre at Haypath Road Park in Old Bethpage, Nassau police announced early Tuesday.

Torres was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, July 9 at First District Court in Hempstead.

The victim, Stefon Pierre, 22, of Queens, was in Haypath Road Park when he was shot in the abdomen at 10:24 p.m., detectives said. He was brought to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead by hospital staff. Police are still investigating.

Pierre's family told News 12 Long Island that he was at the park with a group of friends when he was shot in the stomach.
