Meet New York Times Bestselling Author Tom Clavin Oct. 21
With a new book about to be released, Clavin talks storytelling and brand building at major media conference
Who better to talk about storytelling and building a brand than New York Times’ best-selling author Tom Clavin? It happens at the Fair Media Council’s Connection Day conference on Friday, Oct. 21 at Briarcliffe College, Bethpage, N.Y.
With his latest book, Lucky 666, set to be released the week following Connection Day, Tom Clavin will offer expert advice, ranging from the elements necessary for compelling storytelling to promoting your work and building a brand, in an exclusive workshop session.
Two of Clavin’s books have been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, and he has authored three New York Times’ best sellers: The Heart of Everything That Is, Halsey’s Typhoon and The Last Stand of Fox Company.
Lucky 666 is the story of the Old 666, the B-17 bomber that had the most decorated crew of World War II.

Storytelling is an essential skill to becoming an effective advocate, and it’s a vital component to raising awareness — which is the purpose of the Fair Media Council’s Connection Day, the largest conference in the country to bring the media and community together for a day of open dialogue, mutual understanding, relationship building and story pitching.
A variety of breakout sessions are offered throughout the day. The luncheon featured speaker is Bill Keller who, as editor in chief of The Marshall Project, is leading the national conversation on the state of criminal justice in America today. Prior to The Marshall Project, Keller was executive editor of The New York Times.

FMC Connection Day takes place from 7.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at Briarcliffe College, Bethpage, N.Y. Parking is plentiful. If taking Long Island Rail Road, the Bethpage stop is on the Ronkonkoma train line. The station is less than one mile from the college.
The Fair Media Council is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Founded in 1979, it works to create a media savvy society and keep the news media engaged in the community. It is one of the oldest, most successful media watchdogs in the country.
FMC Connection Day event sponsorships and exhibit tables are available, and tickets are on sale now. Attendees are asked to bring pet food donations to support Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center, which will provide puppy therapy during networking breaks.
