Meet POBMS' New Principal, Assistant Principal

PLAINVIEW, NY — Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School has new leadership in its hallways. The middle school is welcoming a new principal and assistant principal for the 2026-27 school year.

Brian Ciampo has been appointed principal, while Carrie D'Oria will serve as the school's new assistant principal.

Ciampo succeeds Kerry Farrell, who was appointed assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in the Herricks School District.

He has served as POBMS' assistant principal since 2022, and the district said he has been a key member of the school community.

In that role, he supported special education programming, supervised instructional staff, and led school safety and emergency preparedness efforts.

"He has also been instrumental in fostering a positive and inclusive school culture through restorative practices and community-building initiatives," the district said.

Ciampo has more than 13 years of experience in education. He holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Administration from The College of Saint Rose and a Master of Science in Adolescent Mathematics from Molloy University.

Previously, he served as assistant principal of mathematics at John Bowne High School in Queens and as a tenured math and special education teacher at The High School for Construction Trades, Engineering, and Architecture.

Ciampo was also awarded the 2026 Molloy University Educator of Excellence Award.

He said he is honored to step into the role of principal at POBMS.

"Having been a part of the POBMS community for the past four years, I have seen firsthand the caring nature of staff and a commitment to excellence," Ciampo said. "I look forward to building on our successes and continuing to foster an environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed."

D'Oria will serve as POBMS' new assistant principal. Before taking on the role, she served as the Health Education Department chairperson at Great Neck North Middle School beginning in 2024 while also teaching middle school health. She previously taught health and humanities at Casa Middle School in the Bronx.

The district said she has leadership experience in departmental budget oversight, instructional observations, coordinating state testing, serving on committees, and more.

"D'Oria is also a dedicated advocate for student wellness and at-risk student support," the district said.

The district added that D'Oria is an active member of organizations including the Long Island Youth Safety Coalition and the Association for Middle Level Education. She also has experience in project-based learning and Response to Intervention (RTI).

D'Oria received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and a Master of Science in health education from Queens College.

She also completed the School Building/District Leadership Program through the College of St. Rose/CITE and holds New York State certifications as a school district leader, school building leader, and in health and physical education. She also holds National Board Certification.
