PLAINVIEW, NY — A Nassau County police officer died after he was electrocuted by a washing machine at his Plainview home, according to a report.
Sgt. Edward Sholl, 46, was electrocuted Aug. 16, his daughter Catherine Sholl told Newsday. Sholl was a Levittown native who had been a 26-year veteran of the force.
An obituary for Sholl said he was a member of the NYPD for 12 years and Nassau County police department for 14 years. He was a "loyal friend to many and dedicated member of the police force," the obituary said.

Laura Curran, the Nassau County executive, wrote in a Facebook post she mourned the loss of Sholl, whom she called a "dedicated father, husband, and police officer."
"Sgt. Sholl served bravely in uniform for 26 years and was a 9/11 first responder," she wrote. "My heart goes out to his family and to all who knew and loved him."
