Nassau SPCA Offering $5,000 Reward For Info on Person Who Abandoned Dog

The dog was found last week just before the most recent snowstorm.

The Nassau County SPCA is offering a $5,000 reward for any information on the person who abandoned a dog in Plainview last week.

The dog, dubbed 'Steve' by the Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter staff, was found by a jogger abandoned in a Sherpa bag on Washington Avenue on Tuesday night prior to the most recent snowstorm.

According to the shelter physically, Steve is fine, well-fed and groomed, and shows no signs of neglect or abuse.

However, Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Nassau County SPCA, believe it is still important to locate the person(s) who abandoned Steve and hold them accountable for their actions.

In the meantime, Steve will remain at the shelter in Syosset, and if no one comes to claim him within 7 days, he will be put up for adoption.
