Plainview Family Escapes After House Catches Fire: PHOTOS

PLAINVIEW, NY — A Plainview family safely escaped their house after a fire broke out Friday morning, officials said. Flames shot out of the exterior wall of the home around 8:30 a.m. Friday as heavy smoke billowed into the air.

A dispatcher for the Plainview Fire Department told Patch the blaze broke out on Peter Lane, near Morton Boulevard. No one was hurt, though the house sustained major damage.

Plainview firefighters were helped by fighters from the Bethpage, Farmingdale, Jericho, Syosset and Hicksville fire departments in getting the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
