Plainview Kindergarteners Learn About Johnny Appleseed

Students studied the legendary American figure recently.

Plainview-Old Bethpage Kindergarten Center students recently learned about one of the most well-known American historical figures, Jonathan Chapman, also know as Johnny Appleseed.

Students in Ms. Melzer's and Ms. Salina's classes learned about the legend, studied the life cycle of an apple and even made their own Johnny Appleseed hats to commemorate the occasion.

According to legend, Johnny Appleseed travelled across the nation with a pot on his head and a pocket full of apple seeds and planted apple trees wherever he went.
