Plainview-Old Bethpage Student Demonstrates ‘Shear’ Excellence
POBJFKHS Student to Complete Cosmetology Certification in addition to Barbering Certification through Nassau BOCES

Plainview, N.Y. —The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District is pleased to recognize an outstanding student that demonstrates “shear” dedication and commitment to her studies! Nicolette Levine of Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School (POBJFKHS) is one of the very few POBJFKHS students who has been enrolled in not one, but two Nassau BOCES Barry Tech programs over the last two years: barbering and cosmetology.
Nicolette has completed her barbering licensure and now is working to put the finishing touches on her cosmetology certification. Hundreds of hours are required to complete each of these programs and this ambitious young woman continues to forge ahead positively toward her double licensure.
In Nicolette’s first year at Barry Tech, her outstanding performance led to her invitation to be part of the SkillsUSA program, a career and technical student organization. Additionally, Nicolette has been perfecting her trade working at a local salon specializing in hair and makeup. She will be completing her cosmetology licensure this summer after high school graduation and before starting college in the fall.
